Why the name Charanga?
Manuel Aires: born in Vila Real, he emigrated to Brazil in 1924, from the port of Leixões, bound for Pará.
22 children: in Brazil, Manuel built his family and had 22 children, one of them José Jacy, better known as Charanga. The nickname came about because, as a child, he was as noisy as a charanga band.
Today, the name Charanga gives life to our burger restaurant, in honour of the father, grandfather and great-grandfather who inspired this family to create this place.
